<plain_text><page sequence="1">Ten Centuries of Hispano-Jewish Culture. An exhibition mounted... to mark the five-hundredth anniversary of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, 1492-1992. Planned by Eleazar Gutwirth (Cambridge University Library, arranged by the Genizah Research Unit, prepared for publication by Stefan Reif) 31 pp. 3 full-page pis (+ cover). ?2.50 + postage. As one would expect, the exhibition gives pride of place to the Library's genizah holdings, but the ninety-one items displayed include also such treasures as the Castilian Bible MS dated 1232, printed works in Spanish, illustrative of cross cultural influences, and as a tail-piece the order of service at Bevis Marks on the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. This exhibition is an excellent taste-whetter, and Dr Gutwirth's introduction (with notes and a short bibliography) can set the interested visitor on the first rungs of a ladder which the display may encourage him to climb.
