A community for postgraduate and early-career researchers in Jewish studies.
The New Generation Group

Who it's for
What we do
The NGG is primarily aimed at: postgraduate researchers (for example PhD and MPhil students); and early-career scholars (including postdoctoral researchers, teaching fellows, and lecturers in the first years of their career), whose work focuses on, or intersects with, Jewish history, culture, religion, languages, literature, and related fields.
The NGG runs a programme of seminars, writing sessions, networking events, and an annual conference. Some events focus on sharing research: work-in-progress seminars bring together PGRs and ECRs to present draft ideas and research in an informal setting. Others are more practical or exploratory, such as themed workshops, skills sessions, and conversations about teaching, public engagement, and careers. We also host writing retreats, which provide structured time to work alongside others.
How to get involved
The easiest way to get involved is simply to come to an event! Joining the NGG mailing list here ensures you hear about upcoming seminars, calls for papers, and opportunities.
You can also become a member here to access extra perks, including access to the UCL Library, free access to the JHSE journal archive, and free or reduced-price tickets to all JHSE events (and more). Membership costs just £15 per year – a simple way to stay connected and get the most out of what we offer!

If you have an idea for a work-in-progress session, a themed workshop, a reading group, or a skills-focused event, we encourage you to get in touch!
