About the event
Professor Latchman, Vice Chancellor of Birkbeck University, will speak to us about his recently published book Ten Chief Rabbis, which provides a unique insight into the lives of the previous Chief Rabbis, both scholarly yet accessible, made possible through the writing and, even more so, the archives and collection of Professor David Latchman. His personal collection of first-hand sources, books, memorabilia and artefacts is probably one of the most comprehensive today. Drawing on historical documents and numerous other items in his possession, Professor Latchman weaves together a fascinating story of how individual Chief Rabbis can shape the history of Jewish communities throughout the English speaking world and beyond.
