About the event

Join the JHSE North London branch for this in-person event.

Rebecca Abrams will talk about her book: ‘Licoricia of Winchester’.  Licoricia of Winchester rose from obscurity to become the most successful female financier in early mediaeval England. She was a royal favourite, widow, potentate and prisoner.  Rebecca Adams tells the story of Licoricia and the Jews of Medieval England. Simon Sebag Montefiore said of this book: “Totally fascinating, tragic and unforgettable – an untold story of female power, royal intrigue, high finance, civil war and antisemitism”.
